Funding Details
Higher Education (HE)
Full time HE level courses in Scotland are funded through Students Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS) www.student-support-saas.gov.uk and UK and EU students are offered financial help through student loans, bursaries and grant allowances to help with living costs, childcare and other courses related expenses. Up to £500 may be claimed from ILA Scotland to finance part–time study.
Further Education (FE)
ILA Scotland www.ilascotland.org.uk is simple way to get up to £200 per year towards the cost of FE (including RYA) courses. To qualify for this award you must be over 16 years of age and earn less than £22,000 per year. An ILA must be in place before a course can be embarked on, this requires your ILA card to be registered at the Centre.
Leisure Classes
Some leisure classes can be financed through ILA.
Fish Industry Training (FITA)
These courses are free to current fishermen or anyone taking up employment in the fishing industry.
